Student Awards

 The RATS Student Award is presented to a recipient who is registered or presently enrolled in a field of study related to mechanical/ electrical industrial technology, Engineering, or millwright apprenticeship programs at participating Alberta technical school/ institution or university. Each institution administers its own scholarships.

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT)

 

Name of Scholarship: Rotating and Turbomachinery Society – Engineering Scholarship

Value of each scholarship: $1,000
Number of scholarships available: 1


Criteria for Scholarship selection: Available to second year students enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology programs at NAIT. Awarded on the basis of high academic achievement in the previous semester of the program. Preference given to a student with demonstrated leadership, community engagement, volunteerism and/or involvement in extracurricular activities.

Value of each scholarship: $1,000
Number of scholarships available: 1

Criteria for Scholarship selection: Available to a student enrolled in the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program at NAIT. Awarded on the basis of high academic achievement in the previous period of the program. Preference given to a student with demonstrated leadership, community engagement, volunteerism and/or involvement in extracurricular activities.

 Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP)

 

Name of Scholarship: Rotating and Turbomachinery Society Alberta Millwright Scholarship

Value of each scholarship: $1,000
Number of scholarships available: 1

Eligibility: A 2nd or 3rd year Red Deer Polytechnic apprentice who attended the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program in the most recent academic year. The apprentice must be continuing their studies in the subsequent year of the program and RDP in the upcoming academic year.
Criteria: Academic achievement with an emphasis on studies and work related to rotating equipment topics and contribution to society.

 

Name of Scholarship: Rotating and Turbomachinery Society Alberta Technology Scholarship

Value of each scholarship: $1,000
Number of scholarships available: 1

Eligibility: A full time 1st year Red Deer Polytechnic student who attended the Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma program in the most recent academic year. The student must be continuing their full-time studies in the subsequent year of the program and RDP in the upcoming academic year. Criteria: Academic achievement with an emphasis on studies and work related to rotating equipment topics and contribution to society.

 University of Alberta (U of A)

 

Name of Scholarship: Rotating and Turbomachinery Society Alberta Scholarship

Value of each scholarship: $1,000
Number of scholarships available: 2

Eligibility: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in any year of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Disbursement: Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated excellence in rotating machines coursework. Preference given to a student with demonstrated leadership, community engagement, volunteerism and/or involvement in extracurricular activities.
